Our ten-day Pamoja Tanzania safari unveils the best of Tanzania. From the unforgettable wildlife galore to the cultural experiences, it will surely take your breath away. You visit all the northern circuit national parks, where you will see the Big Five and also the spectacular migration, depending on your date of travel.
Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport you are picked up by our driver and transferred to Katiti Lodge for dinner and your overnight stay.
Explore one of Tanzania's most rewarding national parks, a land of big baobab trees, big elephants and big cats. Sightings of wildebeest, giraffes, hippos, buffaloes, baboons, vervet monkeys and zebras are almost guaranteed. Lions are plentiful here.
Just past Mto wa Mbu you leave the tarmac road, and the drive continues along adventurous slopes of the East African Rift Valley, past Maasai villages and Ol Doinyo Lengai, the holy mountain of the Maasai. Lake Natron is home to a remarkable variety of birds — in particular about 2.5 million lesser flamingos, for whom the lake is a regular breeding ground. You hike to the lake and visit the nearby waterfalls, a true oasis where you can swim.
On adventurous slopes you climb the Rift Valley into the wide plains of the Serengeti, the heart of a vast ecosystem whose species-rich animal world is unique. Each year the great migration involves over 1.4 million wildebeest and almost 300,000 Thomson's gazelles.
A second day in the quiet north of the Serengeti, where the herds cross the rivers in season.
The entire day is dedicated to game viewing in the Serengeti. The areas you visit depend on where the migrating herds are. Predators usually follow closely behind the trekking animals and include lions, leopards (in the acacia trees) and cheetahs. During the short rains of November and December the herds move from the hills in the north to the plains in the south.
Another full day in the central Serengeti, the best area for all three big cats.
Today you descend more than 600 metres into the crater to view wildlife. Supported by a year-round supply of water and fodder, the Ngorongoro Conservation Area supports a vast variety of animals, including herds of wildebeest, zebra and buffalo.
The park is dominated by the lake of the same name, which attracts large colonies of water birds — particularly impressive are the pink flamingos. About 400 bird species live in the park, which is also famous for its tree-climbing lions.
On the last day you head to Mto wa Mbu to discover the traditional life of the Maasai, their culture and traditions, and visit their bomas (a group of huts belonging to an extended family). Then transfer to Arusha/JRO.
