This stunning two-day safari is a blend of wildlife, scenery and a breathtaking getaway, combining two major parks for an immersive African experience.
Mount Kilimanjaro rises to the north-west of Mkomazi National Park, with the Pare and Usambara Mountains to the south; together with Kenya's Tsavo it forms a major protected ecosystem. The park is home to a black rhino sanctuary and an African wild dog breeding programme, as well as giraffe, eland, hartebeest, zebra, buffalo, elephant and gerenuk. Bird spotting is excellent, with more than 450 species recorded. In the evening you transfer to your lodge for the night.
The park follows the Tarangire River through low hills on the floor of the Great Rift Valley, with acacia woodland and giant baobab trees. Tarangire is reputed to hold some of the largest elephant herds in Africa, as well as greater kudu, fringe-eared oryx and ashy starlings. A picnic lunch keeps the game drive going until evening, then you transfer to Arusha/JRO.
