In seven days you visit all the major safari national parks in the north of Tanzania. This tour awaits with extensive game drives, especially in the Serengeti. You have plenty of time for animal watching and the opportunity to shoot many great photos. You are the centre of attention and you are invited to help us shape the daily schedule of your safari.
Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport you are picked up by our driver and transferred to Katiti Lodge for dinner and your overnight stay.
After breakfast your guide collects you at Katiti Lodge and you drive to Tarangire National Park. The park emerged in 1970 from a former colonial hunting ground and has a very diverse animal world, not least because of its size — about that of Luxembourg. It is home to one of the largest elephant populations in northern Tanzania, as well as many other wild animals.
The entire day is dedicated to game viewing in the Serengeti. The areas you visit depend on where the migrating herds are. Predators usually follow closely behind the trekking animals and include lions, leopards (in the acacia trees) and cheetahs. During the short rains of November and December the herds move from the hills in the north to the plains in the south.
A second full day on the Serengeti plains, following the herds and the big cats wherever the rains have led them.
Today you descend more than 600 metres into the crater to view wildlife. Supported by a year-round supply of water and fodder, the Ngorongoro Conservation Area supports a vast variety of animals, including herds of wildebeest, zebras, buffaloes, elands, warthogs, hippos and giant African elephants.
The Hadzabe are the last true hunter-gatherers in East Africa; about 700–800 of them live in small groups around the lake. They live almost as our own ancestors did in the Stone Age, hunting with bow and arrow and gathering fruits, roots and honey from the baobab trees.
On the last day you discover the traditional life of the Maasai. Discover the traditional life of the Maasai, their culture and traditions, and visit their bomas (a group of huts belonging to an extended family). On arrival at the village expect a traditional welcome, with plenty of singing and dancing — participation is very much encouraged!
