Programme jour par jour
-
Jour 1Tarangire National Park
Giant baobab trees, bush savannah and seasonal marshes characterise this nature reserve. Tarangire is considered one of the best places to see elephants up close, and the park is also home to buffaloes, zebras and wildebeests, followed by predators such as lions; leopards are seen occasionally. From the open roof of your safari vehicle you take in the landscape and watch the animals. Overnight at a lodge.
-
Jour 2Serengeti National Park
Travel through the cooler highlands to the eastern Serengeti, reaching the plains by midday. Tanzania's largest park features grasslands, savannah, bush, swamps, lakes and granite kopjes.
-
Jour 3Serengeti Plains – Ndutu Area
Morning game drives continue in the Serengeti, then at midday you leave for Ndutu, south of the Serengeti and west of Ngorongoro — a quieter area with excellent big-cat viewing and extraordinary starry skies.
-
Jour 4Ngorongoro Crater
An early descent of more than 600 metres into the crater. You descend over 600 metres into the crater to view wildlife. Supported by a year-round supply of water and fodder, the Ngorongoro Conservation Area supports a vast variety of animals, including herds of wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, eland, warthog, hippo and giant African elephants. The dense predator population includes lions, hyenas, jackals, cheetahs and the elusive leopard. You also visit Lake Magadi, a large but shallow alkaline lake in the south-western corner, home to flamingos, hippos and water birds. Overnight at a lodge.
-
Jour 5Lake Manyara – Arusha
The park is dominated by the lake of the same name, which attracts large colonies of water birds — particularly impressive are the pink flamingos, cormorants, pelicans and storks. About 400 bird species live in the park. Lake Manyara is also famous for its tree-climbing lions, and you can see elephants, zebras, giraffes, buffaloes and hippos. The game drive ends with a transfer to Arusha.
